“The remains of the late Mrs. Henry Searle, who passed away on Friday last at her home in Guelph Township, were laid to rest this morning in the R. C. Cemetery. The funeral left her late residence at 9 o'clock, arriving at the Church of Our Lady at 10 o'clock, where requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. F. W. Doyle, S.J. Rev. Fr. Quirk, S.J., officiated at the grave. The funeral was largely attended, and the many spiritual offerings testified to the popularity of the deceased. The pallbearers were three sons, Joseph, Harry, and William Searle; two sons-in-law, James McCann and Edward Moran, and one grandson, Edward Moran, Jr.

OBITUARY - Mrs. Henry Searle.

"The death occurred of Mrs. Henry Searle, on March 12th, at the family residence, Guelph township, after a severe illness of two months, borne with Christian patience and fortitude. The deceased's maiden name was Margaret Cahill and was married fifty-two years ago. Hers was a kindly and loving nature, deeply devoted to her family. Besides the sorrowing husband, she leaves to mourn her loss, four sons and five daughters. Joseph at home, William of Guelph, Harry of Mortlach and Arthur of Moose Jaw, Sask; Elizabeth of Elora, Sr. M. Mildred, St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton, Cecilia of Detroit, Mrs. J. McCann, Eramosa, and Maud at home. One daughter, Mrs. Edward Moran, predeceased her seven years ago. One sister, Mrs. B. Gibson, of Guelph, also survives.

The funeral took place Tuesday morning to the Church of Our Lady, where requeim high mass was sung by Rev. Father Doyle, S. J. Then all that was mortal of the dear, departed soul was laid to rest in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, where the services were conducted by Rev. Father Quirk. The pallbearers were her three sons, Arthur, William, and Joseph; Edward and Carleton Moran, and James McCann. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement."

OBITUARY - Mr. Henry Searle

"After an illness of five months Mr. Henry Searle passed away his late residence, Guelph Township on May 31st, 1925, one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of the district.

He was born at Brockville, Ont., June 8, 1845, coming to Guelph at an early age where he remained the greater part of his life, settling on the farm in Guelph Township twenty-one years ago. Deceased was married to Margaret Cahill in 1867. Of that union ten children were born. His wife and two daughters, Mrs. Edward Moran, and Sister Mildred of St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton, predeceased him some years ago. His was a kindly and home loving nature and will be sadly missed in the home. He embraced the Catholic faith at an early age, was a devoted member of the Church of Our Lady, Guelph, also a member of the Holy Name Society.

He passed to his eternal reward on the Feast of Pentecost fortified by the rites of Holy Mother Church.

The funeral took place on Wednesday morning, to the Church of Our Lady where High Requiem Mass was sung by Rev. Father Synnott and was largely attended.

Rev. Father Quirk officiated at the grave. May his soul rest in peace."

Funeral from the residence of his sister, Miss Elizabeth Moran, 147 Cambridge street, on Tuesday morning at 9:40am, to the Church of Our Lady for requiem high mass at 10 o'clock. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery."

EDWARD MORAN IS CALLED BY DEATH

"Born in Pilkington Township 73 years ago, son of pioneer Irish settlers, Edward Moran died the home of his sister, Miss Elizabeth Moran, 147 Cambridge Street, on Saturday.

The late Edward Moran was a successful farmer in Pilkington Township for many years prior to his retirement in 1919, at which time he took up residence in Guelph and lived here until the time of his death, which followed an illness of ten months.

A devout member of the congregation of the Church of Our Lady, he took a keen interest in the Holy Name Society of that church. Mr. Moran was a staunch Conservative.

Predeceased by his wife 28 years ago, he leaves to mourn his loss two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Keating and Mrs. William Smith, both of Guelph; three sons, Carl and Ernest Moran, Toronto, and P. Basil Moran, Dufferin Rifles C.A.S.F., Niagara-on-the-Lake; one brother, Thomas Moran, Guelph, and two sisters, Miss Elizabeth Moran and Miss Mary Moran, both of Guelph.

The funeral will take place tomorrow morning from 147 Cambridge Street, at 9:40 o'clock, to the Church of Our Lady for requiem high mass at 10 o'clock, daylight saving time. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery."

"Mildred Emmerentia, at the K-W Hospital on Friday, March 18, 1988. Mildred Emmerentia (Moran) Smith, in her 76th year, beloved wife of the late William J. Smith (1966). Loved mother of Gwen (Mrs. Gordon Free), Joan (Mrs. Antonio Tasillo) and Ruth (Mrs. Richard Finamore) all of Guelph. Predeceased by three brothers Carl, Ernest, and Basil Moran and one sister Marguerite Keating. Survived also by 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin Street North, Guelph (after 7:00 p.m. Saturday). Funeral on Monday, March 21, 1988 to St. John's Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon. Interment, Marymount Cemetery.
